The Ogun State Police Command announced on Wednesday the arrest of Jamiu Salihu, 29, in connection with the murder of his alleged girlfriend, Temitope Elemide, aged 20.
Elemide was tragically raped and stabbed to death on Sunday at her family residence in Bosero community, Olodo, in Odeda Local Government Area.
According to a confidential source, the perpetrators, believed to be hoodlums, invaded Elemide’s home, taking advantage of her being alone, and committed the gruesome act.
Elemide, who was preparing for her next Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, met a tragic end.
Confirming the incident to the press, SP Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, disclosed that Salihu, the deceased’s boyfriend, was apprehended in connection with the alleged murder.
“On February 25, a report of suspected murder was received from Odeda, detailing the discovery of Elemide’s lifeless body with stab wounds to her head and body. Salihu, identified as the prime suspect, was observed exiting the vicinity of the crime scene,” stated Odutola.
The police recovered a knife, two iron rods, and an android Tecno phone as evidence. The deceased’s body was subsequently transferred to the morgue.
