The Lagos State Police Command has verified reports of a woman purportedly leaping into the river from a boat traveling from Igando, Lagos State, to Ogun. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident to journalists on Sunday evening, mentioning that rescue teams were actively searching for the woman. The case was reported to the Igando Police Division by an individual named Rasaq around 8:00 am on Sunday. Rasaq recounted that on Saturday around 10:00 pm, Folashade Nimotalahi boarded a boat from Isuti Jet, Isuti Road, Igando, en route to Totowu in Ogun, with 12 passengers aboard. Suddenly, Nimotalahi removed her life jacket and jumped into the river, leaving behind a nylon bag containing a bottle of sniper, Alimosho General Hospital cards, and some drugs. Detectives from the division promptly visited the scene, and efforts were underway to recover the body while investigations continued, including attempts to reach the woman’s family.
