The Lagos State Police Command disclosed that Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Primeboy, underwent interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, on Tuesday following a petition from Wunmi, the late singer Mohbad’s wife.
Primeboy was apprehended during a routine visit to the SCID, accompanied by Ayobami Fisayo, alias Spending. Sources revealed that Primeboy and Spending had been attending SCID meetings weekly since the investigation into Mohbad’s death began.
During Tuesday’s visit, Primeboy was detained while Spending was released. Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, clarified that Primeboy was questioned regarding alleged defamation of character and other accusations cited in Wunmi’s petition.
Hundeyin explained, “Primeboy was granted bail during Mohbad’s case under the condition to sign in at the state CID every Tuesday. Today, he was questioned regarding allegations in Wunmi’s petition, including defamation of character. After questioning, the DC instructed him to leave.”
Contrary to reports that Primeboy had left the police facility, a source revealed that his lawyer, Barrister Emmanuel, was still present, awaiting his release.
Primeboy was previously declared wanted by the police on October 4, 2023, before turning himself in two days later. Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, sought additional witnesses, including Primeboy, Spending, and Boluwatife Adeyemo, to testify at the coroner court to uncover the circumstances of Mohbad’s death.
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, died at 27 on September 12, 2023, sparking controversies. His death prompted the establishment of a 13-man special investigation team by the state Police Command.
The autopsy conducted on Mohbad’s exhumed body on September 21, 2023, aimed to determine the cause of death. Hundeyin reiterated that the police were awaiting the autopsy report in December 2023, as it had not been received from the pathologists.
