Renowned Nigerian actor Amaechi Muonagor’s demise was announced by Morris Monye, a prominent social media influencer and chairman of the Delta State Sports Association. Monye expressed deep sorrow over Muonagor’s passing, highlighting the actor’s remarkable talent in Nollywood. Muonagor had been battling health issues, prompting efforts to support his medical treatment in India, underscoring the pressing need for improved healthcare in Nigeria.
Despite Monye’s statement, the Actor Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has yet to comment on the news. Muonagor’s struggle with kidney disease had been made public a week prior when he appealed for financial assistance through a distressing video. Confirming his illness on November 27, 2023, Muonagor’s relative, Tony ‘Oneweek’ Muonagor, disclosed the actor’s health condition.
Throughout his illustrious career, Muonagor graced screens in numerous films, notably portraying memorable roles such as the father figure in “Aki and Paw Paw.” His passing comes shortly after the death of fellow actor Mr Ibu (John Okafor) on March 2, 2024.
