A 24-year-old man, Ebuka Ibe, residing at 16, Eyitayo St., Ajao Estate, Lagos, has been ordered to be remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by a Magistrate court in Ikeja. This decision comes in response to allegations of raping his neighbor, for which Ibe was charged.
Magistrate F. D Hughes presided over the case and did not entertain Ibe’s plea due to jurisdictional constraints. The case has been adjourned until April 17, awaiting legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Samuel Mishozunnu, the incident occurred on February 18 at the defendant’s residence. Mishozunnu stated that Ibe allegedly raped a 20-year-old woman while she was asleep. It was reported that Ibe entered the victim’s bed at night and committed the act, prompting neighbors to intervene.
The prosecutor highlighted that these actions contravene the provisions of Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
