The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Gadafi Bala, on allegations of raping a Junior Secondary School (JSS1) student from Aderegun Community High School in Ogijo, Sagamu.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the incident was reported to the police by Ifesowapo Otitoloju CDA in Ilara Ogijo on Thursday.
Upon receiving the report, the Division Police Officer of Ogijo Division promptly visited the victim and facilitated a medical examination, which confirmed that the victim had been sexually assaulted by Gadafi.
Odutola emphasized the gravity of the offense, stating that such actions constitute a serious violation of human rights and will not go unpunished. Following the confirmation of the examination results by a doctor from a government-owned hospital, Gadafi was swiftly apprehended.
Preliminary investigations have commenced, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further discreet investigation. The police assured that justice would be served in the matter.
