A Danfo commercial vehicle, packed with passengers, collided on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Wednesday, according to Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Farinloye confirmed that the crash caused two adult passengers to be thrown into the Lagos lagoon from the 18-seater bus. Search operations by the Marine Police are underway to locate the missing passengers, a man, and a woman.
The incident involving the bus with registration number FKJ 872 YA occurred near the Adeniyi Adele axis heading towards Lagos Island. Farinloye stated that the driver lost control due to speeding, resulting in the vehicle hitting the bridge rails and ejecting the passengers into the lagoon.
Efforts are ongoing by the Marine Police to find the victims, while the injured have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, Farinloye added.
