An incident unfolded during a Sunday service at Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, as a 26-year-old man, identified as Bernard J. Polite, attempted to shoot the pastor. However, his plans failed when his gun failed to discharge.

According to Drivetvnews reports, Polite entered the church just after 1 p.m., approaching the front where Reverend Glenn Germany was delivering a sermon. With a chilling declaration that “God told me to do it,” Polite aimed the gun at the pastor, prompting chaos among the congregation.

Thankfully, quick action from a male congregant led to Polite being subdued before any harm could be done. Working together, the pastor and the church member disarmed Polite, holding him until law enforcement arrived.

In a disturbing revelation, Polite confessed that he intended to shoot the pastor and await arrest to “clear his mind,” citing divine instruction as his motive. Court documents further indicated that Polite exhibited signs of mental illness, claiming to hear voices urging him to commit the act.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Reverend Germany expressed gratitude for the intervention that spared him from harm. Recounting the harrowing moment when Polite aimed the gun directly at him, the pastor emphasized the significance of divine intervention.

Polite now faces serious charges, including aggravated assault and attempted homicide, and remains in custody without bail. Authorities are investigating a potential connection between Polite and a deceased individual found near the church premises.

As the community grapples with the shock of this incident, Reverend Germany reflects on the significance of each day, grateful for the protection that spared him from harm. Amidst the turmoil, faith remains a guiding light, offering solace and strength in the face of adversity.
