Nigerian blogger Dorcas Adeyinka, based in the UK, denies claims of refusing to honour a police invitation regarding cyber-stalking and abduction allegations. The Nigeria Police Force declared her wanted, citing injurious falsehood, threat to life, and extortion.
Adeyinka’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, asserts she always complied with police invitations and criticizes the police for their declaration, stating the allegations stem from a social media dispute. He emphasizes Adeyinka’s surprise at the police’s attention to the matter.
Olajengbesi clarifies that Adeyinka sought police assistance after her private images circulated online, leading to harassment. He mentions previous unfounded charges against her and her cooperation with investigations, highlighting the lack of evidence.
Despite assurances of further invitations from the Lagos Police office, Adeyinka was declared wanted after a public event where she received a Chieftaincy title. Olajengbesi questions the timing of the proclamation, suggesting a misguidance within the police or unauthorized access to official channels.
Adeyinka remains committed to legal procedures and is in contact with appropriate channels to arrange compliance with the investigative process. Olajengbesi trusts the courts will uphold justice and fairness.
