The Lagos State Police Command has released a statement addressing actress Laide Bakare’s allegations, contradicting her claims of police harassment.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Bakare was stopped for illegally driving in a bus rapid transit (BRT) lane, violating traffic regulations. When officers attempted to impound her vehicle, Bakare allegedly became confrontational, refusing to cooperate and causing a scene. Despite her behavior, the officers maintained their professionalism and did not engage in any physical altercation.
Bakare was subsequently fined N70,000 for her traffic violation, which was duly paid and receipted. She was then allowed to leave with her vehicle, contrary to her earlier claims of mistreatment. The police statement sets the record straight, clarifying the facts surrounding the incident.
