- The Chicago State University (CSU) has confirmed the authenticity of the diploma certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by President Bola Tinubu. In an affidavit presented to the court in Chicago, CSU affirmed that the diploma certificate and the certified true copy of the diploma are valid.
According to the affidavit, there are minor differences between the diploma certificate and the certified true copy, mainly related to signatures, font, and seal. These differences arose due to updates made by the University after the diploma was issued. The institution clarified that human error could lead to discrepancies in graduation dates, as they are manually typed and might not always be accurate.
The document emphasized that diplomas in the United States are often considered ceremonial documents, and the discrepancies were a result of administrative updates and human error. CSU’s Registrar, Caleb Westberg, confirmed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu graduated and was awarded a degree by the institution, verifying the authenticity of the documents presented to INEC.
