The Nasarawa State Police Command has taken into custody Mrs. Hauwa Sani from Doro village in Katsina State for allegedly possessing 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition without authorization.
According to a statement by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramhan Nansel, the suspect was apprehended along with a two-year-old child at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The statement, issued to Vanguard in Lafia, indicated that Mrs. Sani was found transporting the ammunition concealed in a container of palm oil, destined for Katsina State. Additionally, a mobile phone and N78,500 in cash were recovered from her.
State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Shehu Nadada, has instructed that Mrs. Sani and the seized items be sent to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further examination.
This incident mirrors a similar case from approximately two months ago, where a woman was arrested for carrying ammunition on her way to Katsina State.
