Nigerian filmmaker and evangelist Mike Bamiloye has come to the defense of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), amidst controversy surrounding his comments on tithing.
Pastor Adeboye recently apologized for a past sermon where he stated that those who don’t pay tithe won’t make it to heaven. Bamiloye took to Instagram to address the backlash, criticizing those who focused solely on the apology while ignoring the broader message.
Bamiloye highlighted Pastor Adeboye’s humility in publicly apologizing and emphasized the importance of going beyond the 10% tithe for those capable. He shared quotes from Pastor Adeboye’s sermon:
– “It’s wrong to limit yourself to 10%.”
– “10% is for beginners.”
– “You want to be at the top? Go beyond 10%.”
Bamiloye noted that understanding kingdom principles requires spiritual discernment (1 Corinthians 2:14). He encouraged believers to focus on eternity and heaven, rather than earthly opinions.
“Only God could have spoken to such a man,” Bamiloye wrote. “It takes humility for a man of global status to apologize.”
