Equatorial Guinea has taken firm action against misconduct in government offices by suspending officials involved in sexual activities within ministry premises. Vice President Teodoro Nguema announced this measure on Monday via X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that strict action would be taken against such behavior.
The statement read: “Effective immediately, officials who have engaged in sexual relations within ministry offices will be suspended.
“The government will implement stringent measures as such acts constitute a clear violation of the Code of Conduct and the Public Ethics Law.
“This decision highlights our zero-tolerance stance toward actions that compromise the integrity of public service.
“Ethics and respect are vital to our administration, and we will not tolerate irresponsible behavior that undermines public trust.
“Professionalism and accountability must remain the foundation of our work as public servants.”
In a follow-up post on Tuesday, the vice president revealed plans to install surveillance cameras in all government offices.
He noted: “This step ensures compliance with laws governing public officials and aims to eradicate inappropriate and illegal conduct.
“We will not condone any actions that damage the integrity of our administration. Those who engage in such behavior will face severe consequences.”
