Renowned Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has reconciled with his younger brother, Aremu Afolayan, putting an end to their longstanding feud.
According to Drivetvnews, the two sons of the late legendary filmmaker and theatre icon, Ade Love, have been at odds for years. Their strained relationship became public in 2018 when Aremu alleged that their father lived in poverty despite his fame.
Kunle reacted to Aremu’s claims during a widely circulated interview, referring to his brother as “stupid,” which escalated the tension between them.
However, the brothers resolved their differences on Friday, November 22, 2024, during the wake-keep ceremony for their late mother in Oyo State.
During the event, Kunle addressed the gathering, saying, “I am not Aremu’s brother; I am his father. I raised him, and I am 10 years older than him. But to all his female friends who encourage him, remember that love conquers all.”
In turn, Aremu apologized to Kunle, expressing his joy over their reconciliation. “My greatest happiness today is that my mother’s prayers brought us back together. She never stopped praying because I was considered the black sheep of the family. I disagree with Kunle when he says he has no excuses because we look alike.”
He added, “I’m sorry for subjecting Kunle to backlash on Instagram. I did it because I love him.”
