Pastor Abel Damina, founder of Power City International, has explained why he does not consider drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes to be sinful.

During the 2025 New Year’s Eve service, Pastor Damina addressed his congregation, saying, “You cannot be labeled a sinner because of what you eat or drink. I have said before that alcohol is not a sin.” He highlighted that his primary mission as a preacher is to teach about salvation through faith in Christ, not to enforce moral codes.

“You didn’t come here for moral lessons,” he stated. “You came for me to teach you about salvation by faith in Christ.”

However, Pastor Damina also cautioned about the potential consequences of such habits. “If you smoke, it can harm your body. If you drink alcohol, it could lead to regrettable situations,” he said. “These are things you should have learned at home.”

Known for his bold and unconventional teachings, Pastor Damina’s remarks have sparked varied reactions. While some critics believe his views might encourage moral laxity, others applaud his emphasis on spiritual growth and avoiding judgment.
