Notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Dan Lukuti, infamous for orchestrating violent attacks in Zamfara and Katsina States, has reportedly died after suffering from a mysterious illness that caused him to exhibit unusual behavior, including barking like a dog before his passing.
According to sources familiar with his activities, Dan Lukuti fell ill about a week before his death, experiencing severe symptoms such as violent aggression, uncontrollable spasms, and continuous barking. His condition was so alarming that even his own gang members kept their distance, fearing the unknown nature of his illness.
Dan Lukuti was a feared bandit leader who operated from the Kokonba forest in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. He commanded a group of over 50 armed men and was responsible for numerous attacks in Dan Jiloga, Rijiya, Zonai, Magami, and along the Gusau-Magami highway. His criminal activities also extended into Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Despite his history of terror, his final moments were reportedly filled with immense suffering. Witnesses claim he howled in agony until he finally succumbed. Overcome with fear and superstition, his gang members refused to handle his body, instead forcing villagers in Kizara to bury him at a local primary school.
Speculation surrounding his death suggests it may have been caused by rabies or could have been a form of retribution for his years of violence. His demise comes at a time when security forces have intensified military operations against bandit strongholds across the Northwest.
