Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, widely known as “Revolutionary Alfa,” has tragically died in a motor accident on the Abeokuta-Sagamu road in Ogun State. He was 53 years old.

The accident occurred on Tuesday while he was traveling to Ibadan. Reports indicate that the vehicle he was in was involved in a fatal crash.

Until his passing, Sulaiman was the Executive Chairman of the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) and also led the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS).

A committed advocate for justice, he was a devoted follower of the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) and actively participated in numerous human rights movements. Over the years, he worked with various organizations, including the Democratic Socialist Movement (DSM), the National Conscience Party (NCP), the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), and the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), among others.

In a statement on Thursday, Pastor Michael Agassi, Assistant General Secretary of CHRSJ, described Sulaiman as a fearless and dedicated activist whose efforts left a lasting impact on the struggle for justice and democracy in Nigeria.

Agassi expressed deep sorrow over Sulaiman’s passing, emphasizing the loss felt within the human rights community, particularly in Southwestern Nigeria.

He stated, “His death is a great loss not only to civil servants and pensioners in Osun State but also to the disadvantaged masses across the country. He was a rare individual with exceptional humility and courage, dedicating his life to advocating for the rights and welfare of ordinary people.”

According to Agassi, Sulaiman will be buried following Islamic rites at the Abioye Ruling House/Compound in Awo, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, on Thursday after Salat Ashr.

He is survived by his two wives and children.

Agassi concluded by praying for Sulaiman’s soul to rest in peace and for strength to be granted to his family, friends, and colleagues in the human rights community as they cope with this significant loss.
