Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has weighed in on the controversy surrounding singer Asake and his father, Fatai Odunsi.

In a social media post on Saturday, Amusa emphasized the importance of parental involvement and emotional support, stating that neither fame nor fortune can heal deep-seated childhood wounds.

Reflecting on Asake’s personal struggles, she remarked, “When Asake covered his face in tattoos, I once noted that he was either going through a transformation or concealing pain he wasn’t ready to face.”

Regarding claims that Asake’s father was absent and his mother was strict, Amusa chose not to pass judgment. Instead, she stressed that the singer deserves understanding and compassion rather than public criticism.

She also urged parents to take an active role in their children’s lives, ensuring they receive love and guidance before external influences shape their worldview.

Amusa wrote, “People have different versions of his childhood—some say his father was absent, others say his mother was harsh. But I won’t criticize a father who left or a mother who did her best. What truly matters is that Asake deserves love, not public scrutiny.

“Fame cannot erase the pain of parental absence. A child raised with love and affirmation moves through life differently than one who grows up feeling unwanted. Some wounds cannot be healed with money alone; they require deep, intentional healing. Instead of judging, I choose to send support to this talented artist.

“To parents: Be present in your child’s life. Be the voice they hear before the world tries to define them. A child who feels truly seen and loved at home has less to prove to the world. Having experienced similar challenges, I can relate. I sincerely wish him well.”
