A man identified as Ogoro Miffy has accused the Delta State Police Command of allegedly converting his stolen car into a police vehicle.

In a video that has since gone viral, Miffy narrated that his car was stolen in 2015 while he was attending a church event. Following the incident, he reported the theft at the Ekpan Division Police Station and distributed notices about the missing vehicle.

“I was told to print flyers for the stolen car, which I did and shared everywhere,” he said in Pidgin English.

To his surprise, Miffy claimed that two years later, in 2017, he discovered his car being used by the same police division where he had reported it missing. He provided a photo showing the car branded with police insignia.

“I found my car being used by the police at the Ekpan Division. They had turned it into their own vehicle,” he alleged.

According to Miffy, he pursued the matter in court, and in 2018, the High Court ruled in his favour, ordering the police to pay him N10 million in damages. However, he stated that the police appealed the court’s decision.

Expressing his frustration in the video, he said, “Is it right for them to use my car? Just because I don’t have anyone to support me, they’re oppressing me. I was using that car to sustain myself, and life has become difficult since it was taken. I need help.”

In response to the allegations, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Edafe Bright, stated that investigations showed the vehicle was no longer at the Ekpan Police Station.

He added, “The incident happened a long time ago — between 2015 and 2017. From my findings, the said vehicle is not currently in the Ekpan Police Station.”

SP Bright also encouraged Miffy to reach out directly through the contact provided to assist with further investigations.
