The Nigerian Police have arrested Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, following serious allegations made against him by prominent Yoruba Fuji musician, Mr. Okunola Saheed, popularly known as Saheed Osupa.

According to reports, Saheed Osupa submitted a petition to the Kwara State Police Command accusing Portable of making defamatory and abusive remarks that could provoke violence and tarnish his reputation.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed that the arrest was made after authorities received credible evidence supporting the allegations.

“The petition involves grave claims including criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, character assassination, and behavior capable of disturbing public peace,” the statement read.

Acting on a valid arrest warrant issued by a Magistrate Court in Ilorin, police officers traveled to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where Portable was taken into custody at around 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2025.

SP Ejire-Adeyemi stated that Portable was immediately transported to Ilorin for further investigation. His statement was reportedly obtained in the presence of legal representatives from both parties.

The police spokesperson confirmed that Portable is currently in detention and will face legal charges promptly.

The Kwara State Police Command emphasized its commitment to justice, assuring the public of a fair and transparent process. The statement also urged citizens to remain calm and avoid circulating unverified information.
