The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a youth leader named Thomas Godwin, widely known by the nickname ‘Zamfara.’ In a statement released on Wednesday, the command described the incident as tragic and assured the public that a detailed investigation is underway.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguroje, preliminary findings show that Godwin was attacked by unidentified individuals while on his way home. He sustained fatal injuries after being beaten with sticks and clubs.
The attack occurred on the night of Tuesday, April 15, 2025, under unclear circumstances, stirring shock and outrage among residents.
Nguroje noted that Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered a full investigation into the killing. The Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department has been tasked with leading the inquiry, and a team of detectives has already been deployed to identify and apprehend the culprits.
The police have urged members of the public to come forward with any useful information that could aid the investigation.
“While we pray for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace, we encourage anyone with relevant information to assist in the effort to bring those responsible to justice,” Nguroje added.
