Access Bank has addressed recent claims circulating online involving a former employee accused of filming colleagues without their consent.

In a statement released on Monday, the bank confirmed that the matter has been escalated to the appropriate authorities and that it is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

“We are aware of reports on social media concerning a former Contact Centre Agent allegedly involved in misconduct. The issue has been referred to the relevant authorities for investigation, and we are offering our full cooperation,” the bank stated.

The Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) had earlier reported that the individual, identified as Stephen Ejezie, allegedly recorded over 400 videos of female coworkers in private settings, including restrooms and changing areas. According to FIJ, Ejezie is suspected of installing hidden cameras to secretly capture footage without the women’s knowledge or permission.

Despite the severity of the allegations and the reported evidence, FIJ noted that Ejezie had not been formally charged at the time of the publication.

Access Bank reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment. The bank also stated that it is providing support to the employees affected by the incident.

“We maintain a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment and breaches of privacy. Our primary concern is the safety, dignity, and well-being of our employees and customers. We are in active communication with those impacted to ensure they receive all necessary support,” the statement added.

The bank urged the public to rely on information shared through its official channels for accurate updates.
