A tragic incident has occurred in Ode-Irele, located in the Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, where a 22-year-old woman named Joy Tale was allegedly killed by her landlord’s son, identified as 41-year-old Odunayo Olomolatan.
According to reports, the fatal attack happened on Monday following a heated argument between the two. The Ondo State Police Command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident during a telephone conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Ayanlade stated that the suspect has been apprehended and is currently being held at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ode-Irele. He added that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the young woman’s death.
“Yes, I can confirm that the young lady was allegedly killed during a dispute with the landlord’s son. The suspect is in custody, and investigations are ongoing,” Ayanlade said.
In response to the incident, Olajide Akinfe, Chairman of the Irele Local Government, has appealed for calm among residents. He urged the community not to take the law into their own hands and assured them that justice would be served. Akinfe mentioned that he visited the police division and affirmed that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent the suspect from evading justice.
