Tension escalated in Ikire, a town in the Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, on Sunday after an attack targeted the convoy of renowned Fuji artist, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.
The incident occurred in the afternoon when individuals believed to be hoodlums allegedly launched an assault on the vehicles in the convoy. The attackers reportedly hurled stones and opened fire on the vehicles, which included a black Hummer Jeep and a white Hilux pickup truck.
Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicles suffered visible damage from the assault. However, it remains uncertain whether any members of Pasuma’s entourage sustained injuries.
A video from the scene, now circulating widely on social media, captured a state of chaos. Shouts could be heard in the background, with one individual speaking in Pidgin English, saying, “Kasala don burst for Ikire. They don attack us. They carry gun shoot us but God dey.”
Attempts by journalists to contact Pasuma or his management for comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
Residents of Ikire expressed shock over the incident, which briefly disrupted commercial activities and created panic among pedestrians and shop owners in the area.
Pasuma was reportedly in Osun State for a scheduled performance, though specific details about his visit remain unconfirmed.
As of the time this report was filed, the Osun State Police Command had not issued any official statement concerning the attack or whether any arrests had been made.
