An Ondo State Magistrate Court in Akure has ordered the detention of a 23-year-old tailor, Faith Adeola, in police custody over an alleged murder case involving one Gbenga Olotu.

Adeola was apprehended by officers of the state police command for allegedly stabbing Olotu during a confrontation on May 8, 2025, in Oka-Akoko, a community in the Akoko North-West Local Government Area of the state. The dispute reportedly arose over a missing electrical stabiliser.

He was brought before the court on a single count of murder.

The charge stated that on May 10, 2025, around 2:30 a.m., at the Ikese area of Oka-Akoko, Adeola allegedly stabbed Olotu, also known as “Zagazar,” in the chest with a knife and struck him with a wooden object, actions that ultimately led to the victim’s death.

The offense, according to the prosecution, violates Sections 316 and 319 of the Ondo State Criminal Code Law, 2006.

Although Adeola indicated a not-guilty plea, the court declined to officially record it.

Prosecuting counsel, Folashade Adeyemi, requested that the defendant be remanded pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. R.I. Adelakin, postponed the case until May 29 for further proceedings on the remand application and subsequently ordered that Adeola remain in police custody until then.
