Ahmed Adamu Saba, the member representing Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency in Kwara State, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and other security agencies to urgently address the growing insecurity in his constituency.

Saba, visibly disturbed by the wave of kidnappings and bandit attacks, appealed for immediate intervention from the federal and state governments to rescue the affected communities. He specifically requested support from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) to restore peace in Edu, Moro, and Patigi local government areas.

He expressed sympathy for the families of victims and urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that every effort would be made to return peace to the region soon.

Speaking to journalists over the phone, Saba recounted a recent incident in Tashagi, Edu LGA, where a herder was murdered and his five children abducted by gunmen. He also highlighted another troubling case in Gbugbu, located along Ndeji Road, where a businessman and his manager have remained in captivity more than two weeks after being kidnapped.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Bello Hamidu, the lawmaker expressed serious concern over the security threats affecting daily life in the area. “These developments have instilled fear among residents, and the criminals are now demanding even more ransom, threatening to harm those in captivity,” the statement read.

Saba noted that fear has gripped the local population, making routine activities like farming and business unsafe. “People can no longer sleep peacefully or move freely. The level of insecurity is deeply alarming and cannot be allowed to continue,” he said.

Calling for urgent government intervention, he urged President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq, and the Inspector General of Police to prioritize the security situation in his constituency.

He reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with both state and federal authorities to safeguard lives and properties, not just in the affected communities, but across the entire constituency.
