Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello expressed her discomfort with younger individuals addressing her by her first name, considering it disrespectful. Additionally, she revealed her frustration when greeted casually with a simple ‘Hi’ and a wave by younger people.
In a recent episode of the Me, Her And Everything Else podcast, the actress shared her sentiments on this matter. Despite acknowledging the cultural differences worldwide that influence greetings, she emphasized her preference to be addressed as “Ma’am” rather than by her name, Shaffy.
Bello highlighted her approach to handling situations where younger individuals call her by her name, stating that she gently educates them on the matter. She conveyed, “Usually my response is simple and affectionate; I draw them closer and explain, ‘You haven’t earned the right to call me by my name. I have a child as old as you are. Even if I didn’t have children, you still haven’t earned that privilege, and at your age, you would never earn it.'”
