A senior lecturer at Kogi State University, Anyigba, Dr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, has been confirmed dead after a private meeting with a female undergraduate in a hotel.
Sources reveal that Dr. Ibikunle, who was widely regarded as one of the university’s most disciplined and uncompromising lecturers, reportedly lodged at a hotel three days earlier with a 200-level student from the Department of Social Studies Education.
Eyewitness accounts allege that the lecturer consumed multiple energy drinks before the encounter. While the initial interaction reportedly went without incident, trouble began shortly after when he reportedly collapsed as they were preparing for a second round of intimacy.
Emergency responders were alerted, but efforts to revive him failed. The student involved is currently in police custody as part of an ongoing investigation. She has allegedly maintained that she has no knowledge of what caused his sudden death. However, law enforcement authorities are not ruling out the possibility of foul play, including potential poisoning.
The incident has sparked widespread reactions across the university community. Some students, reacting online, expressed shock, while others posted jokes and memes, referencing the lecturer’s strict reputation on campus.
