The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of Femi Oladele, also known as Tallex, a suspect in the murder of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

Oladele was arrested in connection with the disappearance and death of Andrel Okah and John Abba, both 200-level students from the departments of History and International Studies, and Economics, respectively.

The students, who were close friends, had been declared missing for about three weeks before concerned classmates reported the incident to the authorities. Following the report, police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Oladele—who was said to be a landlord to one of the victims—and two other suspects.

During interrogation, one of the suspects reportedly confessed that the students had been killed, and their bodies dumped at separate locations in Ekiti State.

Police later recovered the decomposed body of Okah, which was taken to a morgue, while efforts are still ongoing to find Abba’s remains.

While in detention, Oladele reportedly became ill. According to a source, officers rushed him to a hospital when his condition deteriorated, but he later died despite receiving medical treatment.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that the suspect had been under medical care since his arrest.

“He passed away on Friday. He had been receiving treatment since his arrest and had been taken to the hospital on multiple occasions. Okah’s remains have been recovered, and we are still working to locate Abba’s,” she said.

Ayanlade also urged the public to disregard misinformation about the case, emphasizing that the police remain committed to ensuring justice is served and that all those involved will be prosecuted according to the law.
