Ademola Alli, a leading contender for the Oyo Central Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, has congratulated Rashidi Ladoja on his recent nomination as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, was unanimously selected by the Olubadan-in-Council on Monday, following the conclusion of the traditional 21-day mourning period for the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025.
The decision was made during a council meeting held at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area. The nomination was put forward by Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, and supported by the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole, with full agreement from other council members.
In a statement released in Ibadan on Tuesday, Alli described the nomination as a pivotal moment for the city’s traditional leadership and a step toward continuity.
He also paid tribute to the late Oba Olakulehin, acknowledging his contributions and service to the people of Ibadan during his short reign.
“I extend my support to the royal family and the Olubadan-in-Council,” Alli said. “The nomination of Rashidi Ladoja offers a chance for unity and progress in Ibadan.”
He praised Ladoja’s extensive public service record and his deep connection to the city, stating that his experience as a former governor and senator positions him well to lead Ibadan into a promising future.
“His blend of traditional respect and modern governance experience makes him the right leader for this moment,” he added.
