The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti State, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, has died at the age of 82.
A statement issued by his family on Saturday confirmed that the monarch passed away on Friday. They described him as a leader whose wisdom, dedication, and commitment to the welfare of his people left an indelible mark on the community.
Born on December 4, 1942, Oba Adeyemi began his career as a teacher before serving as a senior civil servant and later as Sole Administrator of the former Ifesowapo Local Government. He ascended the throne in 2009.
He also held the position of Chancellor at Ekiti State University, where he championed projects aimed at improving education quality and expanding opportunities for local students.
During his reign, the monarch was credited with promoting community development, preserving cultural heritage, resolving conflicts, and empowering the youth of Aramoko Ekiti.
The family said funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
