The Ogun State Police Command has begun legal proceedings against two men, Kadir Owolabi and Jamiu Yisa, who were allegedly found with three human skulls in the Ijebu area of the state.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Owolabi was stopped on Monday, August 11, 2025, during a routine stop-and-search by officers of the 71 Police Mobile Force, Awa Ijebu, along the Ijebu Ode/Ibadan Expressway at Refugees Camp Junction, Oru Ijebu.

“During the search, officers discovered three human skulls in his luggage,” Odutola said.

Investigations later led to the arrest of 53-year-old Yisa near the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to handle the case for detailed investigation. He assured residents that the command remains committed to tackling crime while protecting the identity of informants.

This is not the first such case in the state. In January 2025, the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) arrested a man, Adelani Oriyomi, at a cemetery in Kere, Obada-Oko, Abeokuta, for allegedly trying to exhume a human skull.

In October 2023, police also arrested a pastor, Oyenekan Oluwaseyi, of Christ Liberty Evangelism Church, Rosco, Iyana Iyesi, Ota, alongside three others, in the Saje area of Abeokuta, after they were found with a human skull.
