Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has disclosed that the team is yet to receive the $100,000 reward and other benefits promised by the Federal Government after winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Speaking in an interview with media host Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade confirmed that none of the pledges have been fulfilled.

When asked whether the monetary reward had been paid, she replied:

“We have not received our money. Hopefully, it will be paid, but as of now, none of the promises have been delivered.”

Ajibade captained the Super Falcons to secure a record-extending WAFCON title in Morocco.

In the wake of their victory, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu honoured the players and coaching crew with the national award of Officer of the Order of Niger (OON). He also announced a $100,000 reward and a three-bedroom apartment for each player.

During their reception at the Presidential Villa, Tinubu commended the team’s resilience, determination, and courage, describing their achievement as a historic milestone for Nigeria.
