The Global Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, has issued an apology over his recent remarks about the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, the first General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).

In a widely circulated video, Fatoyinbo described Babalola as “anointed” but suggested that “all the grace just went like that” because he “had no money,” further questioning, “Where are his children?” He explained that the statement was meant to illustrate that spiritual grace should be complemented by understanding biblical principles such as stewardship and prosperity.

The comment drew sharp criticism, with the CAC describing it as “insensitive and ill-informed.”

Addressing the controversy in a statement on his Facebook page late Thursday, Fatoyinbo expressed regret, acknowledging that his words had been misunderstood.

“I apologise if any other statement I made has caused distress, hurt, or discontent to the CAC, the family of the late Apostle Babalola, or his associates,” he wrote. “I would never intentionally show disrespect or speak of them in such a manner, whether publicly or privately.”
