President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded Nigerians for their perseverance and patience in the face of current economic and social difficulties, assuring citizens that their sacrifices are already contributing to national growth and improvement.
Speaking on Friday at the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Tinubu said the country is on a path of positive transformation and that the foundation for a more prosperous future is being firmly laid.
“I understand these are challenging times, but the difficulties are not without purpose. The progress we are seeing now is a result of your sacrifices, and I assure you of a stronger and brighter future,” the President said.
Addressing a large audience of traditional rulers, political figures and citizens, Tinubu described the new Olubadan as “a monarch of wisdom, peace and foresight,” while recalling Ladoja’s past political trials and eventual reinstatement as governor.
He added: “Today is historic, and I am privileged to witness your coronation. It is a remarkable moment for Ibadanland, and I salute all traditional rulers present.” Tinubu also acknowledged the presence of notable former governors, including Donald Duke, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Gbenga Daniel.
According to him, Oba Ladoja’s enthronement represents “a new era of unity and hope” for Ibadan, adding that he is confident the city will experience greater development under the monarch’s leadership.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with traditional institutions and state governments to strengthen peace, security and economic revitalisation nationwide.
