The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has sparked widespread debate after making serious allegations against the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
In a video posted on Instagram, Oba Akanbi accused the Ooni of engaging in a secret relationship with his former wife while they were still married. He further claimed that the marriage itself was orchestrated as part of a plot to end his life and destabilize his rule.
According to the monarch, his ex-wife was introduced to him from Canada under deceptive circumstances. “They packaged a woman for me. I didn’t know her. It was all a setup. She lived in my house for over three years, secretly reporting to them and planning my death,” he alleged.
He also claimed that the woman poisoned him on two occasions and made repeated attempts to assassinate him while allegedly collaborating with the Ooni and his associates.
“She even had a child during our marriage, but I cannot confirm if that child is mine until a DNA test proves it,” Oba Akanbi said.
The Oluwo further alleged that after their separation, the Ooni provided accommodation for his ex-wife and the child, and was later seen with her at a hotel.
Ending his remarks, Oba Akanbi declared that his rift with the Ooni of Ife “will never be resolved.”
