A leading Plateau cleric, Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, has alleged that close associates of President Bola Tinubu are intimidating him to silence his campaign on what he describes as an ongoing “Christian genocide” in Plateau State and the Middle Belt.

Rev. Dachomo, who is the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi, made the claim in a video circulating since Friday. He said he began receiving threats after presenting evidence, including footage of mass burials, to counter government denials of targeted killings.

“For the past two months, they have been intimidating me because I’m exposing the government to the world. They say I shouldn’t speak about the killings of Christians in Nigeria. They claim they are monitoring every step I take from Aso Rock,” he said.

He recalled receiving a warning over the phone. According to him:
“Someone from the Villa called and said, ‘Reverend, stop exposing your government.’ He told me they are watching everything I do online. I asked him, ‘So telling the truth is now exposing my own government?’”

The cleric insisted he would not be silenced, arguing that government inaction is what endangers Christians.

“They keep quiet while herdsmen attack us. If they refuse to protect us, are they not the ones exposing Christians to danger?” he stated.

He accused federal authorities of emboldening extremist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP by failing to take decisive action, and condemned officials who deny that Christians are being killed in large numbers.

Responds to Sheikh Gumi’s Claim

Rev. Dachomo also reacted to comments reportedly made by Sheikh Ahmad Gumi’s son, who allegedly claimed the mass graves in Plateau were filled with empty coffins. He demanded that top security officials and judicial authorities be taken to the gravesite to verify the truth.

“The son of the late Gumi, who once negotiated with terrorists, said we buried empty coffins. Let him come and say it before the world. I want the Chief Justice, Minister of Defence, Chief of Army Staff, State Security Service, and GOC to visit the site,” he said emotionally.

He further claimed that youths in the affected community have been told to guard the graves, warning that “mercenaries may come at night to dig them up and destroy evidence.”

Rev. Dachomo said he believes accountability must be enforced internationally, adding:
“He must face the International Criminal Court. Even if he hides in Saudi Arabia, Interpol will track him.”

The cleric concluded by saying justice will ultimately prevail:
“God of vengeance will fight for us. Anyone who wants to know the truth should visit my page and see me crying at the grave.”
