A mother of three who is undergoing cancer treatment has appealed publicly for a second wife for her husband, explaining that her illness has limited her ability to fulfil some marital responsibilities.
The woman, Kemisola Mustapha, a trader, shared her story in a video posted on her TikTok page, which later circulated widely online. She said her health condition, diagnosed in 2024, had taken a toll on her personal life and marriage.
According to Mustapha, her prolonged illness has made it difficult for her to meet some of her husband’s needs, particularly intimacy, prompting her decision to seek a co-wife in order to preserve harmony in the family.
She revealed that she had been searching for a suitable partner for her husband for about nine months and emphasised that she wanted someone with good character—loving, faithful, peaceful and respectful of her family.
Mustapha described her husband as caring and supportive, noting that he had sold most of his possessions to finance her medical treatment. She said her decision was motivated by gratitude and concern for his well-being rather than fear or desperation.
She explained that she had earlier paused the search after being cautioned by another woman, who warned that a new wife might see her illness as an opportunity to harm her. However, she said she later reconsidered, insisting that her choice was rooted in love for her husband and children.
According to her, she is determined to recover and stressed that her decision does not stem from a belief that she is close to death. Instead, she said she wants to restore the happiness and stability her family once enjoyed.
Mustapha added that her husband initially opposed the idea but later agreed after extensive discussions. She said the decision was formalised through a legal undertaking to ensure clarity and protection for all parties involved.
She outlined her expectations for a potential co-wife, stating that the person must be loving, educated, peaceful, and come from a respectable background. She also emphasised that the woman must be willing to care for her children and maintain harmony within the household.
