The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned a social media user, Mubarak Abdullahi, before a magistrate court in Kaduna State over an alleged forged letter purportedly linking President Bola Tinubu to his past drug-related case in Chicago, United States.

Drivetvnews gathered that Abdullahi was reportedly arrested about two weeks ago and brought before the Magistrate Court in Kabala Doki, Kaduna State, on Monday, October 12, 2026. He was subsequently remanded in custody pending further proceedings.

According to an update on the case, the specific charges against Abdullahi had not been disclosed as of the time of reporting. However, information circulating on social media suggests that his arrest may be connected to a document allegedly presented as a letter from Tinubu to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

The purported letter, dated September 19, 2026, was titled “Request for Goodwill and Diplomatic Engagement Regarding My Past Drug-Related Case in Chicago.”

The document allegedly appealed to Guterres to engage the United States government, particularly President Donald Trump, to consider intervening in the matter and facilitate the cancellation or closure of the case.

It further claimed that the issue had continued to attract media attention and public speculation despite having occurred many years ago.

The letter also referenced Nigeria’s relationships with the United Nations and the United States, appealing for what it described as justice, fairness and reconciliation.

However, a social media post circulating alongside reports of Abdullahi’s arraignment alleged that the letterhead and signature on the document were forged. A copy of the document reportedly obtained by SaharaReporters was also described as AI-generated.

The report further indicated that the purported letter formed the basis of the DSS investigation involving Abdullahi.

Although the hearing was expected to commence during the week, details of the alleged offences and the prosecution’s specific claims against the defendant had not been made public.
