The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is happy working with him, amid political tensions involving other governors.
Drivetvnews gathered that Wike made the statement on Tuesday during his monthly media chat in Abuja, where he also criticised Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal for referring to him as “that guy.”
The FCT minister warned that he could create political difficulties for Zamfara State, although he said he was not contesting any election.
“Governors in my party, like the one who was calling me ‘that guy.’ I don’t want to remember him because if I put fire in his state, they’ll say I’m the one putting fire,” Wike said.
He added that, despite not seeking elective office, he could make things difficult for his political opponents.
“I’m not contesting any election, but I can make you have heat, I’ll be laughing, but you’re having heat. You’re supposed to spend N10, but I’ll make you spend N50. It’s not necessary,” he stated.
Wike also dismissed suggestions that his political influence had diminished, saying his current position continued to give him a significant role in national affairs.
“With the job that I have now, there are those who thought that all about Wike is gone,” he said.
Speaking about his relationship with Fubara, Wike maintained that they were working together and claimed the Rivers governor was satisfied with the arrangement.
“We and Fubara are working together, he is happy and what is important to Fubara now is whether he is running or not, his political team will still retain the power,” he said.
