The family of late veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has held his 8-day Fidau prayer in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The Islamic prayer, held on Monday, August 31, 2026, formed part of the activities marking the conclusion of the actor’s burial rites.
Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, at the age of 66, following a battle with stage-four cancer. His daughter, Kira Taiwo, announced his death during an Instagram Live session.
He was buried the following day, Monday, August 24, in Ilaro in accordance with Islamic rites. His burial was attended by family members, friends, colleagues and associates from the entertainment industry.
Ahead of the Fidau prayer, Kira appealed to Ogogo’s colleagues, friends, fans and well-wishers to join the family in praying for the peaceful repose of the late actor.
Tributes have continued to pour in for the veteran, with colleagues and industry figures remembering him as one of the prominent personalities who contributed significantly to the growth of Yoruba-language cinema.
Ogogo enjoyed a career spanning more than four decades, working as an actor, producer, director and filmmaker. His contributions to the Nigerian film industry earned him a lasting place among lovers of Yoruba cinema.
