Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said Osun State should be more developed, arguing that the state receives sufficient funds from the Federal Government to drive meaningful development.
Drivetvnews gathered that Akpabio made the remarks in Osogbo while urging the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to ensure that public funds are properly utilised if he wins Saturday’s election.
The Senate President encouraged Oyebamiji to work closely with the Federal Government to deliver infrastructure and other projects that would improve the lives of Osun residents.
According to Akpabio, the level of federal allocations coming to the state should translate into better infrastructure and development.
He criticised the poor condition of roads, particularly the route between Ibadan and Osogbo, and said the state should be in a better position given the resources available to it.
Akpabio urged Oyebamiji to begin transforming the state immediately if elected and to demonstrate that governance should be focused on delivering tangible benefits to citizens.
He also charged the APC candidate to ensure that Osun’s resources are used for the benefit of its people while working with the Federal Government to advance development.
