The Nigerian Police have disclosed the completion of the autopsy for the late singer and songwriter, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad. The investigation was initiated after the police exhumed Mohbad’s body to determine the cause of his demise.
Lagos State Police Spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, posted an update on the investigation via the platform formerly known as Twitter, now referred to as X, on Thursday evening. He stated that the autopsy has been concluded, and they are now awaiting the results.
Mohbad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, and was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State, the following day. His untimely death triggered widespread reactions, with some Nigerians implicating his former boss, Naira Marley, and music promoter, Sam Larry, in his demise.
This led to calls for justice, accompanied by protests in various parts of the country, including Lagos and Ogun, demanding that the police uncover the truth behind his death.
In response to the situation, the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, ordered a forensic investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing. Following this directive, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa, assembled a ten-member team, which included a pathologist, to exhume the body and further investigate the singer’s death.
