In Kano Municipal’s Yakasai Layin “Inuwa me mai,” a devastating fire outbreak resulted in the tragic death of a four-year-old boy. Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the fire service in Kano, confirmed the incident that unfolded on Monday evening.Upon receiving a distress call at approximately 06:20 p.m. from Habibi Adamu, a staff member, the fire service swiftly mobilized rescue teams from the Central and Audu Bako Secretariat fire stations. They arrived at the scene around 06:24 p.m. to confront the engulfing flames.Describing the harrowing scene, Abdullahi detailed the extensive damage inflicted on the building, measuring approximately 40 by 30 ft. The upper floor bore the brunt of the fire, being completely consumed by the inferno, while one parlour suffered minor burns.Tragically, the young child was trapped within the blazing structure. Despite valiant rescue efforts, he was found unconscious and unresponsive. Rushed to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, the attending medical personnel, sadly, pronounced him deceased upon arrival. The sorrow-stricken family, led by the child’s father, Sani Usaini, was confronted with the devastating reality as they received their beloved son’s lifeless body at the hospital. This poignant incident underscores the critical importance of stringent fire safety protocols and prompt emergency responses in averting such heartrending tragedies.
