Two women were brought before a zonal Chief Magistrates’ Court in New Karu, Nasarawa State, on Friday, accused of fighting and causing injury to each other on February 14.Deivetvnews gathered the information that Alice Odey, 27, and Blessing Onagbulum, 39, residents of New Nyanya, Karu, Nasarawa State, faced charges of breach of public peace, defamation of character, and causing harm, to which they pleaded not guilty.According to Inspector Shehu Ndam, the prosecutor, the defendants were apprehended on February 14 after engaging in a physical altercation that resulted in injuries. Allegedly, Onagbulum accused Odey of stealing her former husband, while Odey accused Onagbulum of using ‘juju’ to harm him. The conflict escalated, leading Odey to stab Onagbulum with a broken bottle multiple times in the head, jaw, and neck. Additionally, Onagbulum’s daughter purportedly intervened by striking Odey in the eye with a stone. The prosecutor cited violations of sections 113, 139, and 245 of the Penal Code.Judge Godiya Bawa granted bail to the defendants at N100,000 each, along with one surety each in a similar amount, and adjourned the case until March 15 for further proceedings.
