Ayegunle Bunu community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State came under attack in the early hours of Monday, leaving one person dead and more than 30 others abducted.
Drivetvnews gathered that the attack reportedly occurred around 2:25 a.m., causing panic among residents. Preliminary reports indicate that one person lost his life during the incident, while another victim sustained injuries.
Sources within the community disclosed that two residents, a man and a woman, were among those kidnapped by the attackers.
The majority of the abductees were said to be passengers travelling in a commercial bus that was intercepted by the gunmen while passing through the area.
Residents described the attack as a disturbing development that has heightened concerns over security in the community and along major routes within the local government area.
As of the time of reporting, security agencies had not issued an official statement on the incident. Efforts were still underway to determine the exact number of abducted persons and gather further details about the attack.
The incident adds to growing concerns over the increasing cases of kidnapping and violent attacks affecting several communities across the country. Authorities are expected to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims and bring those responsible to justice.
