The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old man, Samson Onilewaji, after he was allegedly found with a suspected human body part, firearms, and other items believed to be linked to criminal activities.
The suspect was apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Lekki–Epe Expressway. Police officers intercepted an unregistered commercial shuttle bus carrying six passengers, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of several suspicious items.
Recovered exhibits included a suspected human right hand, two locally made pistols, one live cartridge, two axes, a Point of Sale (POS) machine, and five Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the suspect admitted to recently robbing three individuals and stealing the recovered POS terminal and ATM cards.
The police said efforts are underway to identify and contact the victims so their belongings can be returned.
Investigators are also working to determine the origin of the suspected human hand, the circumstances surrounding its possession, and its intended use. Authorities added that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals who may be connected to the case.
The suspect is expected to be charged in court after the investigation is completed.
Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling violent crime and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
