Gunmen have abducted the 60-year-old headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, Budo Aare, in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, Kolawale Mathew Owoade, popularly known as Onaiye, and are demanding a ₦30 million ransom for his release.
Drivetvnews gathered that the incident reportedly occurred between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, while the victim was returning from his farm in Budo Aare.
According to his son, Abiola Owoade, the kidnappers contacted the family shortly after the abduction using the victim’s mobile phone and demanded ₦30 million for his freedom.
He added that a search party later recovered the victim’s abandoned motorcycle in a bush around 8:20 a.m. on Sunday.
Abiola appealed to the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, hunters, vigilantes and other security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue his father safely.
The incident has sparked concern among the victim’s colleagues and members of the education community in Itesiwaju Local Government Area.
Confirming the abduction, the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the victim was kidnapped at his farm and assured that security operatives were working to rescue him unharmed and apprehend those responsible.
