The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has decorated 13 newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 17 Commissioners of Police (CPs), urging them to uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability as they assume greater responsibilities.

Speaking during the decoration ceremony, the police chief congratulated the officers on their promotion, describing it as recognition of their years of dedication, resilience and outstanding service to the Nigeria Police Force.

Disu stressed that the new ranks represent greater responsibilities rather than rewards for past achievements, noting that the officers must now serve as role models for their subordinates.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by police personnel throughout their careers, including long periods away from their families, demanding working conditions and the pressures associated with public service.

The IGP urged the newly promoted officers to lead with honesty and compassion while maintaining zero tolerance for corruption, abuse of power and other forms of misconduct.

He also encouraged them to mentor younger officers and help build a modern, intelligence-driven and technology-oriented police force capable of earning the confidence of the public.

According to him, public trust remains essential for effective policing, as it strengthens cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

Disu reaffirmed the commitment of the police leadership to improving officers’ welfare, professional development and capacity building, while encouraging the newly promoted officers to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He also appreciated the families of the officers for their unwavering support, saying their sacrifices contributed significantly to the achievements being celebrated.

The Inspector-General further thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support for the Nigeria Police Force and commended the Police Service Commission for conducting a transparent and credible promotion exercise.

He concluded by urging the officers to wear their new ranks with humility and dedication while inspiring confidence within the Force and among Nigerians.
